Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey
To all those who recognize this title you can go back to watching the next episode, and to all those who do not, well, you're in for an absolute treat !!!
This post is going to be about a TV-Seires named "Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey". "Cosmos" as stated on IMDB is 'A documentary series that explores how we discovered the laws of nature and found our coordinates in space and time.', but it is much much more than that. Never before in my life have I been subjected to such an amazing show, a beyond perfect bond of Science and Imagination. The show takes us from the cosmos around us that lies within the tiny spaces of atoms to the huge observable or imaginable Universe that stretches out around us, in graphics that lets your curiosity graph break boundaries and sets your mind free on a journey of experiencing and understanding Science like never before.
The show is hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson and hosted perfectly it is indeed. If you are a sort of curious-by-nature like me, you are going to love this show. Cosmos explores everything you have learned in science in a whole new way. Compressing the age of Universe into a single calendar-year, exploring the genesis of life and nature's design that is - evolution, the birth and death of stars, visualizing photosynthesis, introducing some unsung and great Scientists we ought to know about; everything in the show is explored using a virtual vehicle made up of equal parts of Science and Imagination. Its too freaking awesome, more awesome than 'Sherlock', there I said it. Maybe equally awesome, and a little bit more. In gist, you gotta see it to believe it. Luckily the show has started this year and has completed just the first season, and as of now you and I are having just few hours of backlog episodes.
I have currently finished watching first six episodes, and my favourite moments until now are - "Scaling the age of Universe to one year", "Explanation of why Speed of light is the universal speed-limit", "The Evolution Tree", "Watching stars in the sky is nothing less than Time-Travel", and the fact that "A neutrino can travel through 100 Light-years of Steel without slowing down.". I mean neutrino makes Superman look like a wuss. Anyways, watch it and thank me later.
“There are as many atoms in each molecule of your DNA as there are stars in a typical galaxy. We are, each of us, a little universe.”
